While at NFT.NYC 2022, firm founder Dave Rodman met up with 3D world-building platform and web3 social network Mona to discuss intellectual property concerns for NFTs. In a panel titled “IP, NFTs, and the Metaverse,” Dave was joined by Nixon Peabody LLP’s Eliana Torres and moderated by Soul Curry Art founder Ishita Banerjee.

Broadly discussing intellectual property best practices for NFTs, the team dove into protecting your IP through registering copyright and trademark, considering collectibles as art AND a business, established rules for AI-generated art, how to register IP, and the trickiness of joint works of authorship and ownership with multiple creators. Finally, the panel opened up the discussion by concluding with an audience Q&A.
