At this year’s DCentral Miami conference, Dave Rodman spoke with fellow experts in the space on all things related to decentralized autonomous organizations (“DAOs“). Joined by Laura Cole with International Blockchain Legal LLP, Moish Peltz of Falcon Rappaport & Berkman PLLC, and Commonwealth’s George Beall, the panel initially discussed the various ways of understanding DAOs and what makes them so appealing.

With that, however, the topic turned to legal risks and the significant IRS and SEC liability concerns present in launching a DAO. Stressing that there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to DAOs, the group emphasized the need for competent legal counsel to navigate the organization type’s current regulatory uncertainty.
