Republican Presidential hopeful John Kasich called marijuana legalization a “terrible idea” Tuesday.  “It sends mixed messages to young people about drugs. I don’t think we should do that. We need to tell young people to stay off drugs,” said the Ohio governor. While he admitted there are differences between marijuana and drugs like heroin (great analysis there John) he said, “So some drugs are okay but others aren’t? We’ve got kids. Why don’t we just say don’t do drugs, period.”

Jesus. What does he think of beer commercials encouraging our youth to drink or tobacco companies selling a carcinogen laden product to millions? Those are ok because they are what, different?

Does he believe that we are actually confusing kids by allowing marijuana usage (or beer, or cigarettes) but cautioning against heroin? Does he actually think the younger generations are that stupid?

Either way, I don’t think it matters. Politicians who oppose marijuana are on the wrong side of history. This wont be an issue in another 10 years.
